About the Homeowner Workshops

In order to meet the need for information about the care and maintenance of historic properties, the Preservation Alliance offers an ongoing series of Homeowner Workshops in the spring and fall targeted to the owners, and aspiring owners, of older and historic homes.  A key educational and outreach component of the Preservation Alliance's Neighborhood Preservation Programs, the Homeowner Workshops have been very well received, with over 2,400 people having taken advantage of the free programs since they were introduced in the Fall of 2006.  Workshop attendees have the opportunity to learn from a broad variety of preservation professionals on a range of topics including: working with architects and contractors; roofing on historic buildings; historic windows; and masonry and pointing. The workshops include either visual presentations or hands-on demonstrations followed by a question-and-answer time.
