Rittenhouse West

A development project by the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) seems to be on hold, in part, it is speculated, due to the recent take over of PPA by state Republicans and the ensuing battle for political control. The project would have filled several vacant lots on historic Rittenhouse Square with a new complex conisting of a parking structure, movie theaters, restaurant, and retail shops. The Preservation Alliance had been meeting with PPA to explore ways to save three historic buildings on Moravian Street, but project is now stalled, in part, due to several pending legal challenges by neighbors.
